S. 2083—The Bipartisan Patient Protection Act of 2004

On February 12, 2004, Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) introduced S. 2083, a bill To amend the Public Health Service Act and the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 to protect consumers in managed care plans and other health coverage. Included are provisions that would require health care insurers to allow their enrollees to participate in clinical trials. S. 2083 was referred to the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions.
