S. 1538—DSHEA Full Implementation and Enforcement Act of 2003

On July 31, 2003, Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) introduced S. 1538, the DSHEA Full Implementation and Enforcement Act of 2003. The bill aims to provide full enforcement of the goals of the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994 by authorizing appropriations for the FDA. The measure includes a provision that would authorize appropriations for the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements to expand research and development of consumer information on dietary supplements. S. 1538 was referred to the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions.
