S. 1053—Genetic Discrimination

On May 13, 2003, Senator Olympia Snowe (R-ME) introduced S. 1053, the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act.  S. 1053 would prohibit discrimination on the basis of genetic information with respect to health insurance and employment.  S. 1053 was referred to the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP).

COMMITTEE/SUBCOMMITTEE ACTION

October 14, 2003 – The Senate passed S. 1053 by a vote of 95 to 0.
