Administrative Clerk/Technician
Job Description Administrative Support Technicians and Assistants at NIH are general office and clerical support positions that provide essential services to scientific and administrative organizations and programs. They perform a wide variety of clerical and administrative duties, including data collection and tracking; reviewing documents and reports for accuracy; researching information in files and databases; consolidating information into presentation formats; maintaining office files and records; processing correspondence; serving as an administrative liaison with other offices; screening telephone calls and supplying information; and performing office automation duties using such software applications as e-mail, calendars, spreadsheets, databases, and/or graphics. They may also prepare travel authorizations and vouchers and perform timekeeping duties for office staff, as well as other administrative and office functions. These positions require knowledge to coordinate the work of the office with the work of the other offices; knowledge of the priorities, goals and functions of an office in order to plan and coordinate clerical and administrative work; skill in extracting information from various sources; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; and computer skills.
