H.R. 4543—The Post-Abortion Depression Research and Care Act

On June 9, 2004, Representative Joseph Pitts (R-PA) introduced H.R. 4543, the Post-Abortion Depression Research and Care Act. The bill would expand activities of the National Institutes of Mental Health, as well as other Institutes, for activities related to post-abortion depression and post-abortion psychosis. The bill would authorize appropriation of $3,000,000 for each of the fiscal years 2005 through 2009 for post-abortion conditions programming. It would also require the Secretary of HHS to provide grants to improve health care delivery services and access to care. The bill has 1 cosponsor and was referred to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.
