H.R. 2986—Cancer Survivorship Research and Quality of Life Act of 2003

On July 25, 2003, Representative Roger Wicker (R-MS) introduced H.R. 2986, the Cancer Survivorship Research and Quality of Life Act of 2003. The legislation would, among other provisions, require the NIH Director to expand and coordinate cancer survivorship research at the agency and establish NCI's existing Office on Cancer Survivorship in statute. H.R. 2986 was referred to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. On July 30, Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX), introduced the companion legislation, S. 1496, which was referred to the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions.
