H.R. 1241—Better Screening Test for Women Act

On March 12, 2003, Representative Nita Lowey (D-NY) introduced H.R. 1241, the Better Screening Test for Women Act. The bill would authorize $55 million for each of the FYs 2004 through 2008 to conduct and support research on early detection and screening methods for breast cancer. In addition, $5 million would be authorized for each of the FYs 2004 through 2008 to conduct and support research and data collection on the link between early detection of breast cancer and reduction of mortality rates. The bill was referred to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.
