S. 408—Sober Truth on Preventing (STOP) Underage Drinking Act

On February 16, Senators Mike DeWine (R-OH) and Chris Dodd (D-CT) introduced S. 408, Sober Truth on Preventing (STOP) Underage Drinking Act. The bill would require the Secretary of HHS, in conjunction with other relevant Federal agencies, to establish an interagency coordinating committee to focus on underage drinking, and increase prevention activities in states and local communities, including college campuses. The bill would also authorize a public service media campaign to increase adult awareness of the threat alcohol poses to their children, as well as increase research and data collection done at the Federal level on adolescent alcohol use and brain development. S. 408 was referred to the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee.
