Location: Hedgesville, West Virginia
Start Date: 9/6/2007 12:00 PM
End Date: 9/8/2007 12:00 PM
Event Details:

The Sixth Annual Graduate Student Retreat will be September 6-8, 2007.

The Woods Resort and Conference Center in Hedgesville, West Virginia is hosting the retreat (http://www.thewoodsresort.com/).  Don’t miss this exciting event open to all graduate students doing dissertation research at NIH!  Each year, PhD students get together for 2 days of science, professional/career development, food and fun in the hills of West Virginia.  All lodging and meals are paid for by the GPP.  There will be a bus for students who would like to ride it.  You are also free to carpool to the retreat.

Attached are three important documents.

1.   The Agenda.

2.  The Registration Form. Complete the attached registration form and return it to Barbara Ward (wardb@od.nih.gov).
Registrations are due by 9a.m. on Friday, July 13.

3.  The Abstract Form.  Submit an abstract if you would like to present a poster and/or be considered for a talk.  Talks will be 15 minutes long (12 minute talk, 3 minutes for questions).  Giving a talk will involve receiving feedback about your presentation from the group when you are finished.  The feedback session will be led by GPP staff and based on the workshop, “How to Give a Great Presentation.”  Sharon Milgram will be giving this workshop at the retreat.  Please see the agenda and abstract form for more detailed information about the talks.  Abstracts should be returned to Barbara Ward (wardb@od.nih.gov).
Abstracts are due by 9a.m. on Friday, July 13.

If you have any problems opening the attachments, the schedule, registration form and abstract form can also be found on the GPP Activities Page at http://gpp.nih.gov/Activities/2007-09-06-Retreat.htm.

For GPP students in who will be out-of-state at their home campuses at the time of the retreat, the GPP will pay for the costs of travel to and from the retreat.  Email Barbara Ward immediately if you fit into this category.  Unfortunately, we are not able to pay for travel to the retreat from the UK or Sweden.

Last year more than 90 students attended the retreat.  We are confident that this year will be an even bigger success.

Thank you,
