GSC: Social - Annual Flag/Touch Football on the Mall

Event: GSC: Social - Annual Flag/Touch Football on the Mall!
Location: Washington, DC (Smithsonian Metro Stop)
Start Date: 9/25/2004 12:00 PM
End Date: 9/25/2004 1:00 PM
Event Details:

Last year we gathered on the mall for a day of fun, exercise and friendly competition as we engaged in a full hearted, even if slightly athletically challenged, game of football. In an attempt to make this an annual event, and still not interfere or draw support away from the weekly sports outing, I am attempting to set up the football game once again (Reid, please catch the double meaning).

So, here is what I purpose. Saturday, Sept. 25 on the Mall at noon. We can meet at the top of the Metro exit at the Smithsonian (Blue and Orange line for the new comers).

Do not know how to play? Don't worry about it. If you show up a little early, I can give you a crash course in the basics of football (i.e. The rules, how to throw and catch, etc.). Last year there were four people, I believe, who did not know how to play and after the Phil Ryan Express Course in Football Basics, they could throw better than me and generally out played me and destroyed my self esteem. So, come one, come all. Bring a friend, bring a spouse, bring anyone you want to. If the crowd gets too big, we will just break in to two games...I just hope someone else owns a football...I only have one. If you do not want to play, but you can not pass the opportunity to see a bunch of uncoordinated scientists attempt to be athletic, then bring a blanket and be a cheering squad.

So, Sept 25th, Saturday at noon at the Smithsonian Metro on the mall...bring you game face, but if you get to competitive we will unleash the Bulldog on you...just ask Heather how well that worked out for her last year.

;-) See you all there.
