Important message for all applicants for Program Project, Centers, T32 Institutional National Research Awards, and individual research grants requesting direct costs in excess of $500,000 in any year.
Please note the NIH Guide announcement now requires prior approval of the National Cancer Institute to submit an application for review that requests in excess of $500,000 direct cost in any budget period. You are encouraged to notify the NCI as early as possible of your intent to submit an application. This policy now applies both to new type 1 and to type 2 competing continuation applications in this budget range. Failure to request and receive approval will result in the application being returned without review, causing a delay of one round in its consideration.
Potential applicants unsure of an appropriate NCI contact should direct all intent to submit communications to the NCI Referral Office:
E-mail: NCI Grant Referral Officer
Fax: 301-402-0275
Phone: 301-594-1403
Referral Office
National Cancer Institute
Program Coordination and Referral Branch
6116 Executive Blvd.
Room 8047, MSC 8329
Bethesda, Md. 20892
For express mail or courier service, last line of address should be:
Rockville, Md. 20852
Current awardees who intend to submit competing continuation awards should direct their communications to the program official listed on their most recent notice of award, or to the referral office via the contact information given above. For NCI mechanisms that require a Letter of Intent, the request for acceptance should be incorporated into that letter.
Any additional questions can be directed via e-mail to:
Director
Division of Extramural Activities
National Cancer Institute
E-mail: mk74s@nih.gov
Applicants are advised to allow a minimum of six weeks for requests for acceptance to be considered, but are encouraged to begin informal discussions with NCI as far in advance of submission as possible to avoid wasted effort and to benefit from insights that may be provided by NCI program staff.
