Stem Cell Research Resource Access Working Group

Some researchers have had difficulty obtaining cell lines listed on the NIH Stem Cell Registry. They also need information on the characterization of the stem cell lines.

The goals of the Working Group are to:

  1. Facilitate discussions for NIH support to remaining stem cell sources for scale up and distribution.

  2. Develop an assessment of current procedures for distribution among existing NIH-funded infrastructure awardees.

    1. status report on scale up, distribution plans, time lines.
    2. NIH to facilitate informational resources about cell lines (web-based).
  3. Evaluate the need for center/virtual stem cell repository.

  4. Develop a reporting system for enhancing resource information to the scientific community.

  5. Develop background documents on remaining international issues affecting exchange of stem cells among scientists.
