Socioeconomic Status and Cancer:

SEER Linkage to NLMS

A pilot project under development will link SEER to the National Longitudinal Mortality Study (NLMS) to add socioeconomic data at the individual level that cannot be obtained from the SEER database itself. Researchers will explore the combined database as a resource for estimation of differentials in cancer incidence, survival and tumor characteristics according to self-reported race/ethnicity, marital status, education, income, occupation and industry, residence, nativity/immigrant status, smoking status, health status and availability of health insurance.
