#703The Role of Human Factors in the System Life Cycle
 
Description:
This introductory class will present an overview of the IT system development life cycle and the role of human factors (HF) throughout its various phases. HF engineering is a disciplined user-centered approach for developing and maintaining computer systems by determining the user's role and defining an appropriate environment and interface to support the user.
 
Objectives:
Topics will include:
  • Overview of the system life cycle
  • What is a user-centered approach?
  • HF and user interface design guidelines and principles
  • Case studies
  • Lessons learned
