S. 484—The Enhancing Drug Safety Act

On February 1, 2007, Senator Michael Enzi (R-WY) introduced S. 484, the Enhancing Drug Safety Act. S. 484 contains provisions to enhance FDA’s authorities regarding drug safety.  Like other similar measures, S.484 contains provisions to expand clinical trials.gov to include a broader scope of trials, and certain information regarding their results.  The bill includes strong penalties for failure to comply with it provisions.  See entry for H.R. 3580, which became P.L. 110-85.  S. 484 was referred to the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions.
