S. 1810The Prenatally and Postnatally Diagnosed Conditions Awareness Act
On July 18, 2007, Senator Sam Brownback (R-KS) introduced S. 1810, the Prenatally and Postnatally Diagnosed Conditions Awareness Act. The bill would authorize the Secretary of HHS, acting through the Directors of NIH, CDC, or HRSA to make awards to States and other entities for the purpose of collecting and disseminating current “evidence-based” information and coordinating the provision of support services to patients receiving a positive test diagnosis for Down Syndrome or other conditions diagnosed prenatally or postnatally. The companion measure is H.R. 3112. S. 1810 was referred to the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP).

March 13, 2008 - The Senate HELP Committee (Senator Edward Kennedy [D-MA], Chair) ordered reported S. 1810 as an amendment in the nature of a substitute.
April 21, 2008 - The Senate HELP Committee (Senator Edward Kennedy [D-MA], Chair) reported S. 1810 as an amendment in the nature of a substitute without written report and placed on the Senate Legislative Calendar under General Orders.
