The National Children's Study dietary assessment workshop was an opportunity for experts in dietary assessment methodology to gather and discuss:

• The current state of knowledge about methodologies used to assess dietary intake during pregnancy, lactation, infancy, childhood, and adolescence;
• The validity, feasibility, strengths, and limitations associated with measurement methods during each of these time periods; and
• Priorities and recommendations for NCS instruments to ensure that they capture information at specific ages and are used throughout the span of the NCS.
