NIDA Genetics Consortium (NGC) (Website) is a group of more than 20 research studies, first awarded in 1998, that focus on the genetics of drug addiction.  The NGC provides a central data base of anonymized data on family structure, age, sex, clinical status, and diagnoses, as well as blood samples from which DNA and cryopreserved lymphocytes are derived.

Mission:

  • To identify genetic factors involved in drug addiction and addiction vulnerability, and to create the database on the human molecular genetics of drug addiction for sharing among NGC members and the broader scientific community.
