Economics of Cancer

The Applied Research Program supports several activities relevant to issues in the economics of cancer. These include developing data resources and methods to produce estimates of the economic burden of cancer, developing detailed estimates of and determinants of the cost of cancer prevention, screening, treatment and follow-up services, developing, and estimating the costs of cancer treatment for patients in clinical trials. NCI sponsored studies in these areas are described at Economics of Cancer and Cancer Trials. Data resources that can be used to support studies in these areas include the SEER-Medicare Linked Database and the HMO Cancer Research Network.

To learn more about what the program is supporting in these areas of research, visit the Health Services and Economics Branch Web site.
