Title-Professional-Mentoring

Balancing work and life activities can be challenging, especially for professional women who are involved in competitive science careers. Taking time to remember what first inspired you to pursue a career in science can be both energizing and rewarding.

The pleasures of puzzle solving and discovery that originally drew you into science can now be a precious source of renewal – an absorbing world within the wider world of responsibilities you now face. Reconnecting with our dreams and with the stories of those who inspired us can give us the perspective and vision to face our daily trials – and the chance to reconnect with our desire to transform our lives and the lives of others.

This section offers short profiles of women who were pioneers in science, and advice from women currently working to balance their commitment to science with their devotion to the rest of their lives. The challenges faced by those pioneers, and the experiences of contemporary women, can provide an immediate source of reassurance, energy, and inspiration.
