Free searches of biomedical literature are available from PubMed. PubMed provides access to the Medline database, which contains abstracts and references for more than 11 million articles published in over 4000 biomedical journals since 1966.

The National Library of Medicine, a part of the National Institutes of Health, maintains MedlinePlus to help people locate authoritative health information. MedLinePlus includes carefully selected links to Web resources with health information. It also provides links to pre-formulated searches of the MEDLINE database which helps people find references to the latest health professional articles on a particular topic.
