Alexandra: A History

Wits University Press is pleased to announce the launch of Alexandra: A History by Philip Bonner and Noor Nieftagodien. The launch will take place on Monday, 10 November 2008 at Hofmeyr House on East Campus, at 17:30 for 18:00. Guest speakers will include Professor Belinda Bozzoli, and a representative from the Alexandra Renewal Project.

Prof. Sharma has researched race in the USA and caste in India, and was principal of the Hindu College, University of New Delhi, India.

The Wits School of Law hosted a symposium last month entitled Judges and the World, in celebration of the work of Judge Edwin Cameron of the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA), who is an Honorary Professor in the School.

The Wits Centre for Deaf Studies at Wits University celebrates its 10th anniversary this year and has a range of activities lined up to commemorate the milestone birthday starting on Wednesday, 29 October 2008. The highlight of the programme is the awarding of the Life Time Achievement Awards to five South African individuals who have advocated for the rights of the deaf community.
