Congresswoman Brown Outraged at Ribault High School Fine:
Says She Will Pay the $250

(Washington, DC) Congresswoman Corrine Brown was outraged by the $250 fine leveled at Ribault High School. The Congresswoman made the following statement:

“I am absolutely appalled by this fine. The charity event, which was a tribute to outstanding high school scholar-athletes, had over 1000 people in attendance. The purpose of the event was to honor these role model students, and encourage our kids to stay in school, study hard, and participate in athletics. In fact, I think we need to have more events like this one.

With all the problems we have in our state today with regard to the education of our young students, from excessive violence to overcrowded classrooms to lack of school materials and classroom facilities, the Florida High School Activities Association fines Ribault High? I am completely speechless by their decision to inflict a senseless fine on an already financially strapped public high school.”
