Congresswoman Brown Announces Grant for FCCJ

(Washington, DC) Congresswoman Corrine Brown is proud to announce that the Florida Community College of Jacksonville’s South Campus will receive a Comprehensive Program grant for $144,616, from the first of January until the end of December, 2002. It is anticipated that the grant will be for a total of three years.

The Comprehensive Program develops web-based pedagogical tools to design and deliver instruction to facilitate learning and increase retention in both online and face-to-face courses. This joint endeavor includes Virginia Polytechnic Institute in its implementation, along with 35 community colleges and universities as beta testing sites.

"I am thrilled that FCCJ’s Southern Campus will be receiving this grant. Online courses are an important tool for students that work full time while simultaneously attempting to further their education. These funds should facilitate this endeavor for these students, who will now have more resources at their disposal to assist them to learn and advance their careers," said Congresswoman Brown.
