The Library of Congress celebrated the musical legacy of the Seeger Family during a two-day program, sponsored by the American Folklife Center, titled "How Can I Keep from Singing? A Seeger Family Tribute."
For session one, "Another Generation of Seegers: Pete, Mike and Peggy Seeger," panelists were Todd Harvey, American Folklife Center, speaking on "Seeger Collections at the American Folklife Center Archive" Jeff Place, Smithsonian Folkways Records, discussing "Seeger Materials in the Smithsonian Folkways Collection"; and David Dunaway, University of New Mexico, talking about "Documenting the Seegers."
Panelists for session two, "Performing the Seegers," were Anthony Seeger, UCLA, "'Something's Coming That Stinks' (An Old American Folk Song?): Changing and Exchanging Songs with the Suya Indians in Mato Grosso, Brazil"; James Durst, Work O' the Weavers, performing music by Pete in the original Weavers; and Mike Seeger, musician and scholar, with Ray Allen of Brooklyn College, CUNY, "Integrating Documentation, Presentation and Performance."
