WASHINGTON – U.S. Congressman Marion Berry (D-AR, 1st) along with Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor) today announced multiple fire departments in Arkansas’ First Congressional District will receive $329,284 in grants from the Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Fire Prevention and Safety Grant (FP&S) program.
The Fire Operations and Firefighter Safety Program include training, wellness and fitness, firefighting equipment, personal protective equipment, and modifications to fire stations and facilities. The following departments have been awarded grants:
First Congressional District:
· Witts Springs Fire Department; Witts Springs, AR - $68,571 for Operations and Firefighter Safety
· Mountain Springs Volunteer Fire Department; Cabot, AR - $118,800 for a Firefighting Vehicle
· East Monroe County Rural Fire Protection, Inc.; Brinkley, AR - $17,627 for Operations and Firefighter Safety
· Pleasant Plains Volunteer Fire Department, Pleasant Plains, AR - $53,586 for Operations and Firefighter Safety
· Edmondson Volunteer Fire Department; Edmondson, AR - $70,700 for Operations and Firefighter Safety
