Spanish American War

U.S. Civil War Regimental Histories in the Library of Congress
A listing of several hundred published unit histories in the collections of the Library of Congress. There are listings for most states and the District of Columbia. Many of the states had units in both the Confederate and Union armies.

Grand Army of the Republic Sources in the Library of Congress

This web site promotes Civil War heritage with a state-by-state listing of parks and resources devoted to remembering the Civil War. There are searchable databases for Union and Confederate army units and the names of men who fought in the war. It also has descriptions of life in the Union and Confederate navies, and brief discussions of prisons, medals, and the burial of the dead.

The War of the Rebellion and Official Records of the Union and Confederate Navies in the War of the Rebellion
This Cornell University Making of America web site presents the full text of these two important Civil War sources, minus the more recent supplemental volumes produced by Broadfoot Publishing. Each source can be searched using simple, boolean and proximity searches. The sources can be found at the bottom of the Making of America title list under "Multivolume Monographs."

Descendants of Mexican War Veterans
This site has a good historical essay on the war, including a chronology and a bibliography. The digital library includes images, maps, statistics, a list of historical and images of artifacts, prominent people, and memorials. There is a list of historical sites associated with the war. These sites are located in Texas, Mexico, California, Colorado and New Mexico.

Society of the War of 1812
The Society of the War of 1812 promotes scholarly and family history research on all aspects of the war. There is an index of all of the state societies, many of which have historical web pages and lists of publications about the war. There also are links to history web sites that pertain to the war.

Guide to Military Records of the Revolutionary War
The site provides one of the most comprehensive research guides on the Internet for locating military records, including muster rolls, payrolls, and orderly books. There is an index to more than 950 orderly books, and contact information for libraries and organizations that have holdings of military records.
