Federal Funding Sources
The federal government annually distributes
millions of dollars in grants to local and state governments; academic
institutions; non-profit organizations; small businesses
and other select applicants. Awarded through the differing departments
of the federal government, each federal agency has specific criteria
that any applicant must meet
in order
to
qualify
and be
considered
for grant approval. A comprehensive list of federal grant programs
and the guidelines for submitting an application can be found at
the Grants
page of my website.
Private Funding Sources
In addition to federal sources, financial assistance is available
through many private institutions and non-profit organizations.
Accordingly, each benefactor has specific guidelines that must
be met to be considered for an award. A valuable, comprehensive
database which includes the application procedures and contact
information
for grants offered by such private and non-profit organizations
is maintained by non-profit The
Foundation Center.
In addition to using the internet, South Jersey residents can
access The Foundation Center's database at two local sites. Through "Cooperating
Collection"
agreements with both the Cumberland
County College and
the United Way of Atlantic County, the online
database is available at the locations below for review, free
of charge, by the public:
