Performing Arts

There is a wealth of Performing Arts opportunities in Alaska. Native dancers and drummers, theater ensembles, dance troupes, chamber and choral ensembles, and symphony orchestras are among the many performing arts opportunities available to performers and audience members alike.

ASCA provides technical assistance and grant support to individual and organizations to encourage the development of the performing arts in Alaska.

Arts organizations involved in presenting or producing performing arts events can receive grant support through ASCA's Project, Operating Support, Workshop or Community Arts Development grant programs. Each grant category has specific guidelines that support different types of programs or projects.

ASCA hosts teleconferences of performing arts presenters around the state to help them coordinate their efforts through block-booking and networking. To participate in future teleconferences, please
e-mail your name, organization and contact information to Charlotte Fox.

Individual performing artists who have professional standing can apply for a Career Opportunity Grant to support participation in opportunities that will advance their standing as an artist. These opportunities might include travel to participate in a Performance Showcase or booking conference, or to get coaching with a mentor.

Performing artists interested in the Artists In Schools residency program can apply to be considered for the Artists in Schools Talent Bank, a juried registry of artists eligible for school residencies. Performing artists are reviewed in odd years (2001, 2003, etc.) and the application deadline is November 1.
