Challenge Grants Challenge Grants help to preserve collections, expand educational resources and facilities, and enact programs that foster research in the humanities. Exhibitions Today includes a number of exhibitions that travel across the country and, in some cases, even around the world. The Media Log includes NEH-funded media programs that underscore NEH's commitment to funding diverse, quality programming. Landmarks of American History and Culture Workshops provide community college educators with the opportunity to engage in intensive study and discussion of important topics in American history. Landmarks of American History and Culture Workshops for School Teachers Summer Seminars and Institutes for School Teachers provide K-12 educators with a means to deepen scholarship in the humanities. Summer Seminars and Institutes for College and University Teachers allow college and university faculty to gain a deeper knowledge of current scholarship in key fields of the humanities. EDSITEment is a constantly growing collection of the most valuable online resources for teaching English, history, art history, and foreign languages. In addition to bringing together the best of the humanities on the web, it also features a powerful search engine and lesson plans for classroom and family use. The U.S. Newspaper Program aims to preserve on microfilm newspapers published in the United States from the eighteenth century to the present. The National Digital Newspaper Program continues the work of the U.S. Newspaper Program by making available online a digital resource of United States newspapers from the nineteenth century to the present. Many books written with NEH support have won awards and prizes. Fellowship Programs at Independent Research Institutions enable scholars to pursue independent research in the humanities while benefiting from collegial association with those in other areas or disciplines of study. Some films produced with NEH support offer companion websites. A number of projects funded by NEH exist solely online. Papers projects preserve correspondence and papers of ten presidents and many literary and historical figures. Many highly acclaimed—and reader-friendly—reference materials have been produced with NEH support. |
