Additions to the United States. Senate historical category The nomination and confirmation hearings for Eugene Meyer, Marriner S. Eccles, Thomas B. McCabe, and William McChesney Martin Jr. have been posted to Federal Reserve History under the United States.Senate group. These men all served as Chairmen of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. All members of the Board of Governors are nominated by the sitting President and confirmed by the Senate. (2008-12-05) Money Trust Investigation. (Pujo Committee) Under the chairmanship of Arsene Pujo, a subcommittee of the House Banking and Currency Committee was formed in 1912. Its purpose was to investigate a small group of Wall Street bankers that exerted powerful control over the nation's finances. The findings of the committee contributed to an environment of public support for reform which resulted in the passage of the Federal Reserve Act (1913) and the Clayton Antitrust Act (1914).
