Media Advisory: Exhibition on German Resistance to National Socialism Opens at Library of Congress

WHEN: Thursday, July 14, 10 a.m. - noon.

WHERE: MADISON GALLERY, JAMES MADISON BUILDING, 101 INDEPENDENCE AVE., SE.

WHAT: "Against Hitler: German Resistance to National Socialism, 1933 - 1945" is an exhibition that is curated and sponsored by the Federal Republic of Germany. This exhibition, which travels nationwide, will open at the Library of Congress.

The display explores the rise of National Socialism (the Nazi Party) and resistance efforts among religious groups, students, the military and the labor movement. The exhibition will be augmented with materials from the Library of Congress and the National Archives. The exhibition opens July 15 and closes Sept. 2.

On July 20, the commemoration day of German resistance, a symposium open to the public will be held in the Library of Congress in cooperation with the National Archives.

ADVERTISING OPTIONS

On the accompanying pages are advertising options and various sizes of advertisements. Because of the short notice for this exhibition, we are limited to press releases, public service announcements and newspaper advertisements. We feel the best forums for these ads are the "Washington Post" and the "Washington Times."

The Post is considerably more expensive, but also has more readers. There is an additional charge for placement; however, the Post's advertising representative told me it is very difficult to obtain placement in this section because the Kennedy Center is a regular customer and gets the best placement. The Times does not offer a placement option, but its staff will work with us and try to help us.

All calculations are based upon a $10,000 budget. See attached.
