Media Advisory: Emperor and Empress of Japan Visit Library of Congress

Press Coverage Limited

WHEN: Tuesday, June 14, mid-afternoon.

WHERE: Main entrance, Thomas Jefferson Building, 10 First Street, SE.

OPTIONS: There will be two locations for a very limited number of press, and press will not move from either of these locations:

1. Great Hall, first floor, where Emperor and Empress will enter and greet VIP guests. Limited to 7 American/foreign press pool; Japanese press pool of 7 being set up by Japanese Embassy. (Location A)

2. Members Room, first floor, where Emperor and Empress will see rare treasures from the Library's collections. Limited to 10 American/foreign press pool; Japanese press pool of 10 being set up by Japanese Embassy. (Location B)

TO COVER: Call Jill Brett or Helen Dalrymple at the Library of Congress if you wish to cover the visit from either of these two locations. Arrangements to cover must be made with the Library by noon on Monday, June 13. Credentials required; may be limited to White House, State Department, USIA, Congress, and foreign press.

SITE PASS: Site pass for your location (A or B) must be picked up by 5 p.m. on Monday, June 13, in the Office of Public Affairs, LM-105, James Madison Building of the Library of Congress, 101 Independence Ave., SE. No site passes will be distributed on Tuesday, June 14.

NOTE: PLEASE CALL FOR FURTHER DETAILS ON TIMING OF THE VISIT ON JUNE 14.
