The
Bicentennial of the Library of Congress presented a unique opportunity
for commemorative items.
The
U.S. Postal Service issued a commemorative stamp for the Library's
Bicentennial. State and local libraries across the nation held second-day
issue events.
Commemorative
coins, which are highly collectible, were issued by the U.S. Mint.
One of these coins is bimetallic (gold and platinum)-- a first in
the nation's history.
