U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Trustee Program

The United States Trustee Program is the component of the Department of Justice responsible for overseeing the administration of bankruptcy cases and private trustees under 28 U.S.C. § 586 and 11 U.S.C. § 101, et seq.

It consists of an Executive Office for U.S. Trustees (EOUST) in Washington, DC; 21 regional U.S. Trustees; and 95 field offices.

UPDATED CENSUS BUREAU DATA & ADMINISTRATIVE EXPENSE MULTIPLIERS

The Census Bureau’s Median Family Income Data and Administrative Expense Multipliers accessible through the Means Testing Information page have been updated. The U.S. Trustee Program will apply the updated data to cases filed on or after March 15, 2009.

IRS DATA UPDATED

March 1, 2009
The IRS’s National Standards for Allowable Living Expenses and Local Standards for Transportation and Housing and Utilities Expenses accessible through the Means Testing Information page have been updated. The revised standards will apply to cases filed on or after March 15, 2009.

Uniform Final Reports Take Effect April 1, 2009

February 13, 2009
As required by Section 602 of the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005, uniform forms for final reports by trustees under chapters 7, 12, and 13 of the Bankruptcy Code have been issued. The uniform forms were developed through the Federal Rulemaking process and will take effect on April 1, 2009. View the forms and their accompanying instructions on the Uniform Final Reports page.
