Washington, D.C. - Today U.S. Rep. Rick Larsen (WA-02) is touring the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base in Cuba. Members of Congress left early this morning for a three-hour tour of the naval base.
Larsen said, “I want to know what I can do to help the dedicated military men and women do their job. I hope to see firsthand the conditions under which they are working.”
During their tour, Members will visit Camp X-Ray, meet with service personnel, tour Radio Range (the permanent detainment facility being built) and a hospital.
Approximately twenty members from the Committee on Armed Services and Intelligence Committee are participating in the trip. Larsen serves on the U.S. House Military Readiness Subcommittee, which has jurisdiction over defense readiness, operation and maintenance, and legislative oversight. |
