Washington, D.C. - Rep. Rick Larsen co-sponsored a bill (H.R. 2996) to repeal the provision of law that provides automatic pay adjustments for Members of Congress. Recently, Congress passed a bill that included a cost of living adjustment (COLA) for Members of Congress. Larsen voted against the bill.
“I don’t have to read the headlines to know that times are tough,” Larsen said. “With a faltering economy, Congress needs to dedicate resources to creating jobs for workers, not pay raises for themselves.”
H.R. 2996 repeals the section of the Legislative Reorganization Act of 1946 that provides for an annual and automatic pay increase for Members of Congress. In addition to co-sponsoring this legislation, Larsen voted against this year’s COLA for Members of Congress. |
