In 1942, the Archive of Folk Song in the Library of Congress issued its first albums of recorded folk music. Edited by pioneer collector Alan Lomax, this set, the fourth in the series, included such recorded treasures as the first transcriptions of Muddy Waters, Sonny Terry in his prime, as well as blues and children's songs by lesser known, but just as accomplished performers. This album, unique for its time, still holds pleasures for the listener and is as fresh today, in this remastered version, as over 60 years ago when it first appeared.
