Raymond Wilcox created this simple poster for the Pennsylvania Works Progress Administration (WPA). At the time, 9.9 million citizens lived in Pennsylvania. If each of them drank an average of two liters of water per day, then they would have consumed almost 20 million liters (i.e. about five million gallons) daily. To conserve water, civilians could fix leaky faucets (a fast drip could waste 65 gallons each day), turn off the water while lathering up and recycle bath water in the garden. Created/Published : Pennsylvania Art WPA, for the Philadelphia Council of Defense, between 1941 and 1943 Creator : Raymond Willcox, artist Part of the Work Projects Administration Poster Collection in the Prints & Photographs Division of the Library of Congress Availability: Usually ships in 1-2 weeks.
