Accomplishments
The Methane to Markets Partnership plays an important role in promoting methane capture and use projects internationally and reducing emissions of methane globally. The U.S. Government Accomplishments in Support of the Methane to Markets Partnership summarizes the contributions of participating U.S. government agencies and highlights the projects and activities since the launch of the Partnership in November 2004.
This report was developed collaboratively by EPA, the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Agency for International Development, the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the U.S. Trade and Development Agency.

Report Highlights
To date, the United States has:
- Provided $10.2 million in support in fiscal year (FY) 2007, bringing the total U.S. financial commitment to $28.5 million on a range of projects since the Partnership's inception. When fully implemented, these projects will deliver estimated annual emission reductions of more than 24 MMTCO2E.
- Leveraged over $271 million in private and public sector contributions from FY 2005 – FY 2007.
- Initiated direct assistance agreements for methane recovery and use projects in Argentina, Brazil, China, Colombia, Ecuador, India, Korea, Kyrgyz Republic, Mexico, Mongolia, Nigeria, Philippines, Poland, Russia, and Ukraine.
- Continued significant work in all four Methane to Markets sectors (agriculture, coal mines, landfills, and oil and gas).
