"Effective December 1, 2004 the City of Seal Beach contracted with the City of Long Beach Bureau of Animal Control for animal control services in Seal Beach. If you need animal control services or need to report wandering, aggressive, or dead animals, please telephone the Bureau of Animal Control at (562) 570-7387 or the Seal Beach Police Department at (562) 799-4100.

The Bureau of Animal Control will not respond to "indigenous" animal issues. "Indigenous" animals include rabbits, oppossums, raccoons, coyotes, etc.

Issues involving vermin should be referred to the Orange County Vector Control District. These would include mice, rats, mosquitoes, red fire ants, Africanized honey bees, and other pests. Please visit the OC Vector Control District's website at http://www.ocvcd.org/ or telephone the OCVCD at (714) 971-2421 for further information.

Effective April 11, 2005 the City of Seal Beach no longer requires common housecats to be licensed."
