Statement by the Press Secretary
Latvian President Vaira Vike-Freiberga to Visit Washington
President Bush Will Be Joined by Latvian President

Vike-Freiberga in participating in the White House Forum on American History, Civics and Service on February 17. The event is hosted by the USA Freedom Corps, the Department of Education, the Corporation for National and Community Service, and the National Endowment for the Humanities. The President and President Vike-Freiberga will take this opportunity to hold bilateral consultations in the Oval Office.

Latvia is a good friend and partner of the United States. The United States welcomes the decision of the NATO Alliance to extend an invitation to Latvia to join NATO. The President and President Vike-Freiberga will discuss a range of global issues, including Iraq.
