President Bush Nominates Mark Weinberger Assistant Secretary of Treasury for Tax Policy

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate Mr. Mark A. Weinberger as Assistant Secretary of Treasury for Tax Policy.

Mark Weinberger is presently the Director of National Tax Practice at Ernst & Young in Washington, D.C.  He was appointed to the Social Security Advisory Board by President Clinton and was confirmed by the Senate in October of 2000.  Prior to joining Ernst & Young, he was a Partner and Cofounder of the Washington Counsel Law Firm.  He also served as Chief of Staff for the 1994 Entitlement and Tax Reform Committee.

He is a graduate of Emory University and received his law degree and Masters of Business Administration from Case Western Reserve University. He then received his LLM from Georgetown University.  He is a native of Scranton, Pennsylvania, and is married with four children.
