Statement by the Press Secretary

Visit of President Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan

President Bush will welcome Afghan President Hamid Karzai to the White House for a meeting and working lunch on June 15, 2004. Presidents Bush and Karzai will discuss a wide range of issues, including our common effort to fight terrorism and bring peace, security, and prosperity to the Afghan people. They will talk about ways to strengthen our bilateral partnership, the upcoming Afghan elections, U.S. and international efforts to spur economic growth by "Investing in the Afghan People," and efforts to curb the growing narcotics menace in Afghanistan.
