NIST in your Home More in your refrigerator
New refrigerators no longer use chlorofluorocarbons which deplete Earth's ozone layer. NIST provided data on ecologically sound refrigerants for replacing CFCs.
NIST prepares more than 35 different food Standard Reference Materials, which are homogenized samples of real foods or plants. Food processing companies analyze the SRMs and, if necessary, adjust their equipment to match the values provided.
