This collection contains approximately 400 items relating
to presidential inaugurations, including Hoover's
inauguration in 1929.
Newspaper Pictorials: World War I Rotogravures, 1914-1919
During the World War I era, leading newspapers
took advantage of a new printing process that dramatically
altered their ability to reproduce images. Rotogravure
printing, which produced richly detailed, high quality
illustrations—even on inexpensive newsprint paper—was
used to create vivid new pictorial sections. This collection
contains an image of Herbert
Hoover as head of the
U.S. Food Administration.

This collection comprises over 55,000 images of urban
life captured on glass plate negatives between 1902 and
1933 by photographers employed by the Chicago
Daily News, including approximately 100 photographs
