Folklife Sourcebook: A Directory of Folklife Resources in the United States

Introduction to Folklife Resources in Mexico

Due to a distinctly different demographic history than that of the United States, the domain of folklife reserchers in Mexico is generally described as "popular culture" and "anthropology." Hence, readers will note a lack of usage of the terms "folklore" and "folklife". The citations below are considerablly briefer than those for Canada and represent the Center's first coordinated effort to encourage collegial linkage with our southern neighbors with hopes of discovering resources increasingly important to researchers in the United States.

Users of this directory are encouraged to write to the Center with additional names of institutions and organizations that maintain programs of study, preservation, and presentations of traditional cultures in Mexico.
