(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-Wash.) today announced that the Economic Development Administration will provide a $48,000 grant to the city of Richland to help create jobs and to maintain employment in a slow economy.

The federal funds will be used to design an economic development strategy for the city of Richland. This plan will focus on retaining employers, creating community partnerships, and providing the infrastructure necessary for private development and job creation.

“I am pleased to announce this federal grant to help create and maintain jobs in the Tri-Cities,” Senator Murray said. “Creating an economic strategy is an important step in revitalizing our economy and improving the quality of life for Eastern Washington families.”

Senator Murray supported funding for EDA within the Commerce Department in her position on the CJS Appropriations Subcommittee.
