The Port of Ridgefield is trying to clean up land once leased to the Pacific Wood Treating Corporation. The company went bankrupt in 1993, leaving behind 30 years worth of soil and groudwater contamination. Senator Murray secured $1 million to help the Port clean up a 2-4 acre underground plume of contaminated water which is moving toward Carty Lake and Lake River. (01/15/02)
