100 Million and Still Counting: On April 13, 1993, the Library acquired its 100 millionth item--a collection of watercolors by John RUbens Smith. April 13 also marked the 250th birthday of one of the Library's founders--Thomas Jefferson. Joining in the unveiling of one of the collection's 700 paintings in the Jefferson Building's Great Hall were (from left) Dr. Billington, Madison Council Chairman John Kluge and Rep. Vic Fazio (D-Calif.). (Photo by Jim Higgins)
